The talent in Puss: Reboot is hard to ignore and is some of the best you’re going to see on stage at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. It is a shame that talent is trapped inside this strange sci-fi story.
Billed as a sci-fi fairy-tale mash-up, this 30 minute oddity is more Terminator than any contemporary exploration of Perrault’s timeless classic. In Emily Tyler’s story, a war is brewing between man and its feline cyborgs and it is up to one man to help set them free and prevent the inevitable destruction of the world.
Despite its offbeat storyline, the trio of actors here – Sarah Harrison, Xander Williams and Andrew Lynch – are simply superb. A testament to their skills, the three actually make Puss: Reboot worth watching.
