Til Death: The Six Wives of Henry VIII
Rio Theatre, 1660 East Broadway
[dropcap]1[/dropcap]Tell us about your show.
The six wives of Henry VIII arrive one by one, plummeting down a shaft of light into an anteroom in purgatory. In poor Anne Boleyn’s case, only her head has arrived. Saint Peter visits to tell them that only one of them gets to go to Royal Heaven (complete with drinks, food, entertainment, motorized water sports and more) with Henry. They battle it out, hilariously, painfully, revealingly. Henry finally arrives and there’s a surprising answer to the whole conundrum.
[dropcap]2[/dropcap]Why should someone come see your show?
See the above description and know that it is performed with rapid-fire physical and vocal shape-shifting by one performer, with a stellar original score.
[dropcap]3[/dropcap]If your show was a superhero which superhero would it be, and why?
Wonder Woman (well, Women). The “lasso of truth” is flung around a fair bit as revelations are made, making for a shocking and irreverent history lesson.
[dropcap]4[/dropcap]If you could see only one show at the Vancouver Fringe Festival, besides your own, what show would that be?
Ooooh that’s so hard! Curious Contagious, because Mind of a Snail is brilliant, and I love supporting my puppetry community.
The 2016 Vancouver Fringe Festival runs September 8-18 on Granville Island and stages around town. Visit http://vancouverfringe.com for tickets and information.
