Okay, it won’t be technically in the streets, but close enough.
JFL NorthWest announced it will host a free block party at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza at the corner of Cambie & Georgia Streets for three evenings during its upcoming festival.
With the Queen Elizabeth Theatre one of the biggest venues for this year’s festival, hosting shows from headliners Bill Burr, Trevor Noah and Jo Koy, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza is an obvious choice for the block party.
Taking place March 7-9 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, the JFL NorthWest Block Party will be host to a variety of Just for Laughs stand-up specials and Just for Laughs Gags on a large outdoor screen in the plaza.
The party will also include performances by Patrick Spencer from Vancouver folk music group, Coldwater Road, and from Vancouver singer/songwriter Adrienne, and guitarist Drix. Organizers are also promising a few surprise guests, as well as an opportunity to meet Victor, the Just For Laughs mascot.
In addition to the outdoor entertainment, the block party will feature food trucks, and complimentary beverages from Tim Hortons. A beer garden will also be available, along with a games tent featuring ping pong and foosball.
The largest comedy festival in Western Canada, this year’s JFL NorthWest will see over 100 comedians and performances, across 30 venues. This year’s festival will also feature the first edition of the Vancouver Just For Laughs Film Festival and the inaugural Vancouver Comedy Awards.
JFL NorthWest takes place in venues around Vancouver from March 1-10. Visit http://jflnorthwest.com for tickets and information.
