North Vancouver’s Presentation House Theatre has announced seven shows as part of its 2024 winter/spring season, including the return of Where the Wild Things Are and partnerships with Blackout Art Society and Ruby Slippers Theatre.
Set to captivate audiences of all ages, these shows offer immersive experiences, cultural richness, and insightful narratives.
Things get started with Where the Wild Things Are (Feb 2-11). Back by popular demand, this show for young audiences is a highly interactive production adapted from Maurice Sendak’s children’s picture book. Suitable for ages 3-7.
March opens with The Emigrants (Mar 1-3), a co-production with Blackout Art Society in an exploration of the issues migrants face, where two immigrants in a typical democratic country share a unique and interconnected bond. Suitable for ages 14+.
Also in March comes Dil Ka [‘of the heart’] (Mar 21-31), which follows Zahra, a 26-year-old Pakistani woman, as she prepares to meet her latest arranged match for marriage. Suitable for ages 14+.
In April, Presentation House teams up with Marionetas de las Esquinas for an encore production of Learning and Forgetting (Apr 27 & 28), as Eva and her brother embark on a heartwarming adventure with their beloved Grandpa whose memory is not quite what it once was. Suitable for ages 3-7.
April also sees the return of Presentation Houses’ All-Star Stand-Up Comedy Night (date TBA) and Assemble (Apr 20), a full-length solo performance exploring memory, loss, and the capacity of human beings to voyage inward.
In May, Presentation House Theatre and Kleine Compagnie present Little Pea (May 3 & 4), the story of a little green pea who escapes a refugee camp and crosses roads, mountains, and villages to be reunited with their peers in their vegetable garden. Suitable for ages 3-7.
