Vancouver Presents continues to monitor the arts community response to the current health crisis and will update this information as it becomes available.
While it is impossible to cover every arts group and venue across Vancouver, here is what we know.
We recommend checking with any organization or venue direct for which you might hold tickets for the most up-to-date information as they may differ and are subject to change.
With our publications’ large events database and uncertainty around many shows it is impossible for us to keep up-to-date with every cancellation or postponed show. We recommend you contact the organizer/venue direct for the most accurate information.
The Cultch (Updated)
The Cultch has advised they have closed all three of its venues. Patrons with cancelled shows have the option of receiving an account credit for future productions or donating tickets back to The Cultch for a tax receipt. Ticket holders for postponed shows will receive updated tickets once new dates have been chosen.
Presentation House Theatre (Updated)
North Vancouver’s Presentation House Theatre has cancelled or postponed all shows until further notice. Ticket holders will be notified directly by the theatre.
Vancouver Civic Theatres (Updated)
Operators of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Orpheum, Vancouver Playhouse and The Annex, Vancouver Civic Theatres have advised they have closed all four venues until further notice. Questions regarding ticketing and rescheduling of shows should be directed to the show’s box office or point of purchase.
Pacific Theatre (Updated)
Pacific Theatre has cancelled the remaining performances of its production of Best of Enemies and postponed the production of Love/Sick. Pacific Theatre will be contacting ticket holders for cancelled and postponed performances direct.
The Havana Theatre on Commercial Drive has now closed temporarily.
In a media release, Vancouver Opera has announced its performances and programming will be cancelled for the remainder of the 2019/2020 season. The media release states ticket holders will receive a gift certificate that can be used for future events or patrons can donate their tickets to the Vancouver Opera and receive a charitable tax receipt.
Studio 58 Langara College
Studio 58 at Langara College has advised its upcoming production of FourPlay has now been cancelled. They advise that patrons who have already purchased tickets will be automatically refunded within 7–10 business days.
Arts Club Theatre Company
Due to the BC Health directive to postpone large events of more than 250 people, the Arts Club has suspended shows at all of its stages and its touring production of Kim’s Convenience. Patrons who are unable to attend a performance can exchange their tickets to an upcoming performance, put ticket funds on a gift card or donate the value of their tickets to the Arts Club for a tax-deductible receipt.
Carousel Theatre for Young People
Carousel Theatre for Young People has announced the cancellation of all remaining performances of The House at Pooh Corner at the Waterfront Theatre. Ticket holders are being asked to donate the value of their tickets to Carousel in exchange for a charitable tax receipt or consider accepting a gift certificate for the value of your ticket purchase to use at a future production.
Firehall Arts Centre
The Firehall Arts Centre has now announced the suspension of all its shows.” The box office will contact patrons who have purchased tickets. They are asking patrons to donate the tickets back to the Firehall for a charitable tax receipt if they are able.
As the Zee Zee Theatre and The Frank Theatre Company have advised their production of Tran Scripts has now been cancelled the two companies are working on a virtual performance on its social media channels on Saturday, March 21 at 8:00 pm. Vancouver Presents will provide details as they come available.
Vancouver Symphony Orchestra
On its website, the VSO states it has cancelled or postponed all VSO concerts until April 5. As with many other arts organizations, affected patrons can donate the value of their tickets back to the VSO or exchange your tickets for a voucher to a future concert for free. Ticket holders to the Joe Hisaishi concert on April 3 & 4 will be honoured at a yet-to-be-announced rescheduled date.
The Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society advises the Vancity Theatre has now suspended screenings until at least April 16.
