Pacific Theatre presents a remount production of Western Gold Theatre’s critically acclaimed and highly successful 2023 production of A Doll’s House, Part 2 by Lucas Hnath, from February 5-25, 2025.
Fifteen years after Nora Helmer slammed the door on her stifling domestic life, a knock at that same door. Nora has returned – but why? And what will it mean for those she left behind? Tony-nominated playwright Lucas Hnath follows Nora back into the dollhouse as she confronts her husband, daughter, and the nursemaid who raised her children. Sharp, witty, invigorating.
“I loved this production when I saw it at the PAL theatre, and right away I was struck by how well it would fit in our venue,” says Pacific Theatre artistic director Kaitlin Williams. “I am so pleased to welcome Western Gold to our home, and for more audience members to have the opportunity to encounter their work.” Doll’s House, Part 2 director Seamus Fera says, “It is a gift to explore an amazingly written script once. It is truly a miracle to be able to get the opportunity twice. I am so excited that all the actors are returning to the remount. With the beautiful configuration of Pacific Theatre, I think this remount will highlight the “tennis match” of arguments that each character fights for.”
Tony-nominated playwright Lucas Hnath’s funny, probing, and bold play continues Nora’s story as she confronts her husband, daughter, and the nursemaid who raised her children. It is both a continuation of Ibsen’s exploration of traditional gender roles and a clever contemporary take on marriage and the complexities of all human relationships.
