Inspired by the luminous night sky, Holst's The Planets swirls with the energy of the cosmos and invokes seven colossal astrological characters in one of the most iconic works of the 20th century. Bringing the firmament underneath the opulent arches of the Orpheum, VAMSO's performance will include image projections provided by H. R. MacMillan Space Centre in addition to a special collaboration with Canadian Music Competition's Ambassador Series, welcoming cellist Tate Zawadiuk in Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme.

Two talented violinists, Jonathan Chan and Jan Bislin, return to their hometown after performing across Europe, Asia, and North America to present a varied program of classical music and popular music covers. The duo often branches out beyond classical walls to explore the world of improvisation, pop, jazz, hiphop, EDM, and contemporary art forms. Framed with a highly theatrical metaphor, Mortified explores youth and influence, rebellion and belonging. A woman runs into a man from her past and is surprised by the power he still holds over her. In an attempt to uncover the truth of what happened between them, she recalls her adolescent self: a 14-year-old synchronized swimmer, struggling to make sense of the world around her. Humorous and dark, Mortified explores sex, shame and transformation and how we reckon with the experiences that shape us.
