On May 18, at The Annex, we will present an intimate concert for voice(s), clarinet and piano. Drawing on timeless themes of love – romantic, spiritual, natural, whimsical – Songs of Innocence & Experience promises a musical kaleidoscope of emotions and feelings, from the romantic ache of Reynaldo Hahn’s “Chansons Gris” to the metaphysical poetry of William Blake; plus three works by Vancouver composers: the funny fractured fairy tales of the Seven Dwarfs to David MacIntyre’s tender cycle “Because of Love”, and the rarely-heard “Limbo” by Jocelyn Morlock.
