Quintessentially East Vancouver, these two indie classics have devoted followings in Vancouver and worldwide. Together the bands are made up of a group of musicians, many of whom have overlapped as friends and players since the late 90s, and some are new to the group. This combo of old and new suits this special event perfectly—audiences can expect fresh songs played in old ways and old songs freshened up.

Veda Hille Sisterhood is a new six-piece ensemble led by Veda Hille that features Julia Chien, Lucien Durey, Thom Gill, Patsy Klein, and Nicholas Krgovich. VHS began in 2022, born after quarantine when the need to sing together was a true imperative for musicians. They have released one EP: “Veda Hille Sisterhood Alive,” recorded at the Cultch.

p:ano is a well-known Vancouver indie band often described as playing chamber pop. They formed in 1999, were most active in the early 2000s and reformed again in 2023 to release a single (“Hollow Stars”) for a Zum Records 25th anniversary compilation. p:ano features Nick Krgovich, Larissa Loyva, Julia Chirka, and Justin Kellam. After reuniting to record the single in 2023, they decided to put together a new album, “ba ba ba”, which will feature 10 brand new songs from the indie favourites. The group are very excited to play this new music, release this LP and play their one and only show on the books for 2024.
