Set against the antebellum South and based on a true story, The Birth of a Nation follows Nat Turner (Nate Parker), a literate slave and preacher whose financially strained owner Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer) accepts an offer to use Nat’s preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities – against himself, his wife Cherry (Aja Naomi King), and fellow slaves – Nat orchestrates an uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom.

All entries received up until that point will be placed in a random draw to win one of ten double passes to the advance screening of The Birth of a Nation at the Scotiabank Vancouver Theatre (900 Burrard Street, Vancouver) on Thursday, October 6 at 7:00pm . Approximate retail value is $25.98 based on the adult general admission price. Passes have no cash value and must be accepted as awarded. All other costs associated with attending the screening are the responsibility of the winner.
