Returning for a fifth year, The Virtual Stage presents its newest interactive and immersive adventure. This Halloween season a hybrid of zombies and vampires take over Granville Island in The Zombie Syndrome: Dead In The Water. Your mission, if you are brave enough to undertake it, is to once again save the human race. Here are five reasons we think you should go:

1. Vancouver Halloween Tradition

Now in its fifth year, the annual Zombie Syndrome interactive theatre adventure series is now an annual Vancouver tradition. What better way is there to ring in the Halloween season than by trying to save the world from the zombie apocalypse with your friends, family and co-workers?

2. New Technology

This year’s all-new Zombie Syndrome production features the Canadian premiere of Apple’s proximity-based iBeacon technology in professional theatre. Clues, directions, and narrative content will be pushed to audience smartphones throughout the production, boosting interactivity for teams of up to 18 people as they race against time in their battle against the bloodthirsty forces of darkness.

3. Vampires

The Virtual Stage, the company that produces The Zombie Syndrome, is mashing up hungry zombies with thirsty vampires this year. This was the result of a Facebook poll asking what monster mashup with zombies audiences wanted to see next, after the successful combination of zombies and aliens in its 2015 production.

4. New Location

This year’s Zombie Syndrome takes place on Granville Island, which is both easy to get to, and a fabulous focal point. Grab a bite (pun intended), before or after the show, at one of the many restaurants in the area.

5. Ocean Voyage

The producers are tight-lipped about what this exactly will entail, but they do say the audience will venture onto the ocean at one point in its epic quest to save the world. You’ll definitely want to bring your sea legs!
