Universal Gospel Choir, Vancouver’s longest-running gospel choir, returns to the Canadian Memorial United Church and Centre for Peace with its annual holiday concert, The Magic of Yule.
The UGC Band will accompany the 70+ voice choir as they perform a selection of traditional carols, gospel favourites, pop songs and world music. The concert will also feature the premiere of the original song Peace Come Reign by the choir’s music director Lonnie Delisle.
“Peace Come Reign was written from a very personal desire to see positive change in the world and the recognition that if change is going to happen, as the adage says, it needs to begin with me,” says Delisle.
Vancouver Presents contributing editor Mark Robins was live with the Universal Gospel Choir as they prepared for opening night. In this Facebook Live event, the choir a number from their upcoming concert and we found out more from Delisle and members of the choir.
