Touchstone Theatre opens its 2017/2018 season with a production of Pamela Mala Sinha’s Happy Place.
Roy Surette makes his directorial return for the company, having recently returned to the company as Touchstone’s artistic director, a position he previously held from 1985 to 1997.
Produced in association with Ruby Slippers Theatre and Diwali in BC, Happy Place explores the lives of seven women aged 23 to 60 who are residents of an in-patient care facility, a microcosm for the world outside its walls. Though each woman must navigate her own survival in a world that challenges that possibility, they are also the ones who teach one another how to live in a way no therapist ever could.
Vancouver Presents contributing editor, Mark Robins, was live in downtown Vancouver with the company of Happy Place during a break in rehearsal.
Happy Place plays the Firehall Arts Centre October 20-29. For more information and tickets visit http://firehallartscentre.ca.
