Vancouver’s Aenigma Theatre and Bright Young Theatre have teamed up to present the world premiere of playwright Scott Button’s new play, Viva.

Viva is the story of two strangers whose lives become intertwined over the course of one night in Las Vegas. Alice comes to the city in a desperate attempt to secure an organ on the black market to save her dying brother. Graeme is partying with friends when he finds a photo card listing the services of a prostitute, and becomes convinced the woman is his missing sister.

Presented as a lyrical duologue, the two stories eventually bleed into each other, examining love, loss, and the lengths to which people will go to in order to protect the ones closest to them.

Vancouver Presents contributing editor, Mark Robins, was live with the playwright, director and actors in the Viva rehearsal studio to find out more.
