Vancouver’s URP is back on North Vancouver’s Centennial Theatre stage with a production of the Tony Award-winning Green Day’s American Idiot.

This rock musical, based on the 2004 Green Day concept album of the same name, is the coming of age story of three suburban friends as they search for meaning in a post 9/11 world. But while the album maybe fifteen years old now, it is surprising just how relevant it is still today.

In this Facebook Live event, Vancouver Presents’ contributing editor Mark Robins was live at Centennial Theatre as the company of American Idiot got ready for opening night.

The company gives us a sneak peek with a performance of the show’s opening number “American Idiot”, and we find out more about the show in an interview with director Richard Berg and cast members, Ali Watson and Colin Sheen.

American Idiot plays Centennial Theatre (2300 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver) November 5-10. Visit urp.ca for tickets and information.
