Founded by Vancouver actors Joel Butler and Patrick Dodd, Sonder House Productions is one of the newest independent theatre company to launch in Vancouver. As its inaugural production, the company will present Sam Shepard’s True West at The Cultch’s Vancity Culture Lab in May.

Butler and Dodd met while performing in a production of Shepard’s Fool For Love, eventually coming together to form Sonder House Productions earlier this year. Given the success of that 2015 production, it comes as no surprise the two decided on another of Shepard’s plays as their first outing.

Coincidentally, the rights to their production of True West were granted in 2017, on the same day Shepard died of complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
