Music, theatre and dance are on tap for another exciting week on Vancouver stages.
[dropcap]1[/dropcap]The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (Apr 14) returns to Vancouver in a program of Romantic music by Brahms and his early mentor Robert Schumann, and a rare chamber piece by symphonist Gustav Mahler. The quartet features artistic co-directors, pianist Wu Han and cellist David Finckel, along with violinist Daniel Hope, and violist Paul Neubauer.
[dropcap]2[/dropcap]Theatre Terrific presents an adaptation of Pamela Boyd’s I Love Mondays (Apr 16-26), a story of an unlikely friendship as the recently divorced Peggy takes on the job of supporting George, a developmentally challenged man. As the duo negotiates the rude assumptions of established society and despite strikingly different life experiences, they bond in a remarkable enduring friendship.
[dropcap]3[/dropcap]Our dance contributor Carolina Bergonzoni teams up with Luciana D’Anunciação and Dance Troupe Practice in An Empty House (Full of Air) (Apr 17 & 18). A site-specific performance at Pandora Park’s field house, the piece questions the engagement between performing bodies within confined and unconfined spaces.
