This week is all about dance and comedy.

[dropcap]1[/dropcap]Bloom 1 2015 (Feb 10, 17, 24) combines contemporary dance, wine, and comedy, as it celebrates six choreographers: Jen Aoki, Robert Azevedo, Gemma Crowe, Heather Lamoureux, Myola Pautler, and Chris Pinker. Completing a seven-week residency with dance mentor, Jennifer Mascall to develop their creative chops, the audience is then brought in for the fun of each short dance piece, paired with an alcoholic beverage, followed by commentary from local comic actor, Jenn Griffin.

[dropcap]2[/dropcap]Internationally renowned South African choreographer and performer Vincent Mantsoe returns to Vancouver with NTU/Skwatta (Feb 11-14), two solos that embody the spirituality and realities of South Africa. Reflecting on the poverty-stricken life in South Africa’s squatter camps where Mantsoe grew up, the two works are politically and socially charged as he finds hope and salvation in the human spirit.

[dropcap]3[/dropcap]The Northwest Comedy Fest (Feb 12-21) gets underway with headlining performances by Craig Ferguson, Maria Bamford, Doug Benson, The Debaters, and more. This year they have also partnered with the Vancouver International Film Festival with a series of curated film events including A Tribute to Robin Williams and An Evening of Comedy Short Shorts.
