It will come as no surprise that our picks this week are all about the Fringe!

The 2014 Vancouver Fringe Festival kicks off with a Fringe Birthday Bash (Sep 2). This newly revamped opening night fundraiser gives patrons an opportunity to celebrate 30 years of the Vancouver Fringe with an opportunity to mingle with Fringe artist alumni, see one of the Fringe’s most well known artists, TJ Dawe, in the Vancouver premier of Marathon and then party the night away with Seattle based bluegrass rockers, The Cave Singers.

Just two days later the 2014 Vancouver Fringe Festival (Sep 4-14) gets underway with over 80 shows in just eleven days on Granville Island and other venues across the city.  With so much to take in it can be hard to decide on what to see, but we’ve helped make it a little easier with our top ten picks for the his year’s Fringe.  Or if that isn’t enough, how about five reasons besides the shows to take in the Fringe or the five shows we want to see based on their press photos alone?

We’re still working up our list of acts not to miss at this year’s St Ambrose Fringe Bar (Sep 4-14), but there is no better way to let you know what is in store than highlighting the bar’s opening night acts: the eight piece Vancouver country band Percheron plus a DJ set from City of Glass (aka Michael Champion and David Phu).
