Pop! Pop! caters to some of the youngest theatre-goers

North Vancouver's Presentation House Theatre presents the return of playwright Linda Carson's Pop! Pop! for audiences aged 2-4 years and their caregivers.

In its ongoing commitment to what will eventually become the next generation of theatre-goers, North Vancouver’s Presentation House Theatre, in a co-production with Carousel Players, presents the return of playwright Linda Carson’s Pop! Pop! for audiences aged 2-4 years and their caregivers.

This is a show for preschool children, so for some, it will be their first time at the theatre. I like to make sure their experience is meaningful from the moment they enter the doors to the moment they leave the space. – playwright Linda Carson

“I try to make a piece of theatre that engages everyone who comes to it, not just the children, but the adults who bring them to the theatre,” says Carson. “This is a show for preschool children, so for some, it will be their first time at the theatre. I like to make sure their experience is meaningful from the moment they enter the doors to the moment they leave the space.”

In Pop! Pop! audiences join characters “Seek” and “Hide” as they discover and explore a colourful undersea world of sensory experiences, including puppets and gentle, playful interaction with live musical layers and soundscapes. As part of its interactive nature, audiences will become part of the show.

“It’s interesting and delightful to discover how the audience influences each moment, making every show unique,” says Joylyn Secunda, who plays Seek.

In its continuing effort to create accessible theatre, Presentation House Theatre offers a “choose your price” option with tickets sold on a sliding scale.

Pop! Pop! plays at Presentation House Theatre (333 Chesterfield Ave, North Vancouver) from February 10-19. Visit phtheatre.org for tickets and information.
