We checked in with our theatre critics for their picks of shows currently on stage, or those opening this week, for their recommendations.
[dropcap]1[/dropcap]David C Jones recommends the United Players of Vancouver production of Welcome to Thebes (until Apr 19) at the Jericho Arts Centre. “An adventure about the aftermath of civil war, its multitude of characters makes it complex, but the diverse cast makes it engaging.”
[dropcap]2[/dropcap]After her recent interview with Andrew Wheeler and following its critically acclaimed run last year, Chelsey Stuyt is looking forward to the Firehall Arts Centre remount of Proud (Apr 7-25). “Sick of the media’s spin on Stephen Harper? Proud offers a devilishly comical look at the man behind the mask.”
[dropcap]3[/dropcap]After seeing what he described as the funniest thing on stage (ever!), Mark Robins recommends The Book of Mormon (Apr 7-12) which lands in town for a week of evangelizing and laughs at the QE Theatre . “I’m pretty sure I left a little pee on the seats of the Eugene O’Neill Theatre from laughing so hard when I first saw this show on Broadway. There is a reason it continues to be one of the hottest tickets in New York City.”
