After successful freshmen and sophmore years, The Vancouver Sketch Comedy Festival (Sketch Fest) is back for a third year. For three nights in January, Granville Island’s Studio 1398 and the Waterfront Theatre will be the locations for some of the best scripted comedy from across North America.
This year’s line-up includes groups from Seattle, Austin, Greensboro, Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton with highlights including a return of Edmonton’s Gossamer Obsessions, and Montreal’s Ladies & Gentlemen, winners of Best Local troupe at the 2014 Montreal Sketch Fest.
The 2016 Vancouver Sketch Fest will also include a line-up of local sketch performers, offering a showcase of both established and up-and-coming talent in the local scene. Local highlights include the long-running monthly solo sketch show The Hero Show, the all-female Stapless, plus sets from long established Vancouver comedy mainstays including The Sunday Service, Instant Theatre Company and Hip.Bang!
The Festival will also include a number of workshops led by top names in sketch.
“This is a great opportunity for comedy fans to learn what it takes to be the next SNL cast member or YouTube sensation,” say Sketch Fest organizers.
The 3rd Annual Vancouver Sketch Comedy Festival takes place January 14-16. Visit http://vancouversketchfest.com for tickets and information.
