As the holiday season quickly comes to a close so do the holiday shows. Here are a three that are only around for the next few days, but well worth catching if you can.
1. Check-in to the Chelsea Hotel (until Jan 3) as this seriously talented cast gives the music of Leonard Cohen an equally serious (and funny and sexy) workout to life on stage at the Firehall Arts Centre. There is a reason this show is back for its fourth time in Vancouver.
2. Speaking of seriously talented, the puppets (and the humans that operate them) are getting ready to pack up and move off of Avenue Q (until Jan 3) again soon. An uproariously funny and irreverent story, the surprising thing is this combination of flesh and felt is also filled with heart.
3. Carousel Theatre brings a musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic story James and The Giant Peach (until Jan 4) to young audiences. Shipped off to live with his cruel aunts, the young James Trotter discovers a magical giant peach inhabited by fantastical creatures. Together with Grasshopper, Ladybug, Centipede, Spider and Earthworm, James embarks on an extraordinary adventure, sailing across the sea to distant lands.
