Our picks this week: a trio of summer shows

All’s Well That Ends Well (until Aug 11)

Who: Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival
What: All’s Well That Ends Well
Where: Bard on the Beach (Vanier Park, Vancouver)
When: Until August 11
Why: Your best bet under the tents at Vanier Park this summer. Set in India during its last year of British rule, co-creators and directors Johnna Wright and Rohit Chokhani have transformed Shakespeare’s problem play from a sexist, classist romp into a poignant piece of theatre”. Disney’s Newsies (until Aug 17)

Who: Theatre Under the Stars
What: Disney’s Newsies
Where: Malkin Bowl (Stanley Park, Vancouver)
When: Until August 17
Why: Your best bet this summer under the stars, this is what our reviewer called a “dance dance revolution”, where the choreography takes center stage in this musical story about the real-life newsboys’ strike of 1899. More information at tuts.ca.
