Zoetrope – The Curiosity of Puppet Oddities

Now in its 17th season, the Risky Nights Series at Langara College’s Studio 58 provides its theatre students with a bridge between classroom work and main stage productions. This year the students invite you to a 1930’s circus sideshow in Zoetrope – The Curiosity of Puppet Oddities (Mar 27-Apr 2). Using three-person, shadow, and object puppetry, the 4th term students explore the curiosity of puppet oddities through a story of love, death, or both.

Just Film Festival

Just as in justice. The annual Just Film Festival (Mar 30-Apr 1) brings compelling stories about social justice and human rights. This year’s festival features 14 documentaries, including On the Bride’s Side, which captures the flight of five people fleeing war-torn Syria, masquerading as a wedding party. The closing film is The Queen of Ireland, which follows Irish drag queen Panti Bliss (aka Rory O’Neill) on his quest to make his country more accepting towards the LGBTQ community.
