Our picks this week: Forbidden Broadway, Problem Child & Theatre Under the Stars
Forbidden Broadway

Fighting Chance Productions brings back one of its past hits with the off-Broadway spoof Forbidden Broadway (Jul 5-30). This greatest hits version of the show includes spoofs of such shows as Les Miserables, Rent, Wicked, and Cats, plus impersonations of well-known musical theatre performers such as Carol Channing, Mandy Patinkin, Liza Minelli and more.

The apprentices at Vancouver’s Pacific Theatre continue their year-end projects with Canadian playwright George F. Walker’s Problem Child (Jul 5-8). The dark comedy follows two dysfunctional parents fighting for the return of their daughter.

3Theatre Under the Stars

Mary Poppins shares the stage with The Drowsy Chaperone at this year’s Theatre Under the Stars

You know summer in Vancouver really is here when the Theatre Under the Stars season gets underway at Stanley Park’s Malkin Bowl. Playing in repertory this year is everyone’s favourite nanny and a Canadian musical parody in productions of Mary Poppins & The Drowsy Chaperone (Jul 7-Aug 19). Under the stars. Hopefully.
