3 shows to get you in the holiday spirt.

With Christmas Day just around the corner we know many of you are looking for shelter against the throngs at the malls. Or maybe it is just that one final push to get you in the holiday spirit. Whatever your motivation, here are three very different shows that we hope will bring you peace and joy this week.

1. Christmas Presence

Carolyn Arends is one of the many performers at Christmas Presence.

Join Pacific Theatre’s eclectic gathering of musicians and actors for Christmas Presence (Dec 19 & 20) for a night of music, stories, poems, and readings for the holiday season. A different line up every night.

2. The Nutcracker

This year’s Nutcracker features Jerome Tisserand and Elizabeth Murphy from Seattle’s Pacific Northwest Ballet Company.

Goh Ballet returns for its annual dance extravaganza The Nutcracker (until Dec 20). A traditional rendition of the classic, follow Clara as she embarks on a magical journey to the Kingdom of Sweets. Tchaikovsky’s memorable score is played live by Vancouver Opera Orchestra.

3. Improv Against Humanity: HO HO HOliday Special

The Fictionals are celebrating the season by giving Santa a helping hand with his naughty list. The HO HO HOliday Special (Dec 21) will feature some sweet Christmas gifts & hilarious comedy, but the main event comes when they crown the season’s most horrible person in Vancouver.
