Our picks this week: Hot Brown Honey, The Events & Jitters

Hot Brown Honey

This is your last week to check out Hot Brown Honey (until Jan 27), one of our two best-bets on Vancouver stages this week. This visual and auditory feast features a mix of burlesque, circus, dance, beatboxing, and hip-hop, with a side order of politics. You will definitely want to join the hive.

The Events

Your other best bet on Vancouver stages right now is the Pi Theatre production of David Greig’s The Events (until Jan 28). Exploring the aftermath of a horrific mass-shooting, it is filled with beautifully powerful moments, two terrific performances, and a different Vancouver choir at each performance.

Jitters

A warmhearted and hilarious examination of backstage shenanigans, David French’s Jitters (Jan 25-Feb 25) remains one of our country’s most enduring and popular plays. Larger-than-life personalities, easily bruised egos, faulty props, forgotten lines, and bad reviews all conspire to contribute to this cast’s opening night jitters.
