Programmed and curated entirely by members of the youth panel at The Cultch, the Ignite! Festival (May 8-19) features theatre performers, dancers, and visual artists —all aged 11-26— as well as participants in The Cultch mentorship programs. In its 19th year, this year’s festival will be headlined by a performance of The Chemical Valley Project from Toronto’s Broadleaf Theatre.
In Champion (May 9-12), audiences participate in a interactive theatrical board game where they help determine the next champion through a strategic game of voting and competition.
Ballet BC concludes its 32nd season with Program 3 (May 10-12), a triple bill that includes Beginning After from Cayetano Soto, a new work from Ballet BC’s artistic director Emily Molnar featuring conductor, Graeme Langager, and the Phoenix Chamber Choir, plus the return of Bill, by collaborators Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar.
