Why: While the annual Shakespeare festival may be well underway in the tents at Vanier Park, the apprentices at Pacific Theatre are presenting a more intimate production of the Bard’s epic history play. In this re-imaging, a group of friends gather in their mom’s basement, as a young girl puts aside her dolls to play soldier.  More information at pacifictheatre.org.

Hello and Goodbye (June 27-July 6)

Why: Set in the home of a poor white family in 1960’s apartheid South Africa, Athol Fugard’s drama focuses on the reunion of a brother and sister who look to the past to come to terms with their places in life today.  More information at brownpapertickets.com.
