1 Hour Photo

From the creators of the critically-acclaimed Empire of the Son comes 1 Hour Photo (Oct 3-15), the story of 90-year old Mas Yamamoto, who has seen much in his lifetime. From recordings of their time together, Tetsuro Shigematsu has captured an incredible life story of growing up in a fishing village on the banks of the Fraser River, being interned as a Japanese Canadian during World War II, and even guarding the Canadian arctic against Soviet bombers during the height of the Cold War.

Hyperlink

Itai Erdal and TJ Dawe team up for Hyperlink (Oct 4-14) at the Firehall Arts Centre. An examination of our social media obsession, it explores the gap between how we express ourselves online and who we really are.

Angels in America Part Two: Perestroika

Your best bet of what is currently on stage continues to be the Arts Club Theatre Company production of Angels in America Part Two: Perestroika (until Oct 8). Tony Kushner’s epic exploration of politics, religion, sexuality, and love against a backdrop of the 1980’s AIDS crisis, is an exhilarating marathon, and it may very well be one of the best things you’ll see on stage this year.
