Revolutions, Jessie Awards Nomination Party & Flicker

This week our picks include the latest from Fight With a Stick, the Jessie Awards nomination party, and the Dancers of Damelahamid presentation of Flicker.

[dropcap]1[/dropcap] Fight With a Stick presents Revolutions (until May 29), an immersive performance inside a 7,000 square foot warehouse. A company of theatre-makers, video artists, composers, installation and performance artists, Fight With a Stick has gained a reputation for innovation and pushing limits.

Revolutions is “a telescopic journey through dust, human chemical relationships and geological time.”

[dropcap]2[/dropcap] Its time to find out who the nominees are for the 34th Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards. The Jessie Nomination Party (May 24) is the big reveal as these annual awards honour Vancouver’s vibrant artistic community.

[dropcap]3[/dropcap] From the Dancers of Damelahamid comes Flicker (May 25), an innovative dance piece that combines west coast design with a unique scenographic hybrid of projected environments and live-action shadow dance.

Flicker’s vividly rich imagery represents the ‘spirit world’, the mystical realm portrayed through Gitxsan masked dance.
