rEvolver Theatre Festival (May 23-Jun 3)
We’ve been talking about the 2018 rEvolver Theatre Festival all last week at Vancouver Presents, and it finally gets underway this week at The Cultch. The annual festival of new work by emerging artists is an eclectic mix of script-based theatre, devised and site-specific works, staged readings of work-in-progress, and in-depth discussions with artists. Colin Mochrie (May 24-26)
Okay, we admit it, we were so taken by our interview with improv legend Colin Mochrie that we couldn’t resist adding him to our list of must-see shows this week. But more than seeing this master improviser in action, his four shows at the Improv Centre on Granville Island and the Vogue Theatre on Granville Street are also fundraisers for our city’s improv comedy troupe, the Vancouver TheatreSports League. Mamma Mia! (until Aug 12)
You either love it or you hate it, and our reviewer absolutely loved it. Calling it a “perfect summer addiction” this feel-good musical based on the hit songs of ABBA may have you hooting (and maybe even dancing) from your seat. More at artsclub.com.
