This week we see the tale of Scrooge through a different lens, go down a rabbit hole with Alice, and celebrate the season with musica intima.
Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol
In Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol (until Dec 18), the Charles Dickens’ classic the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge is told through the eyes of his partner, Jacob Marley. What our reviewer called an exquisitely realized production, this is one of this year’s best. Don’t miss it.
Alice in Wonderland
Alchemy Theatre presents some family friendly fun with Alice in Wonderland (until Dec 18). Outlandish creatures and quizzical conversations fill the stage in a production that combines the best moments and characters from both of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There.
Joy to the World & Ding Dong
The Juno Award-nominated vocal ensemble musica intima presents three traditional Christmas concerts in Joy to the World (Dec 13, 16, 17). In Ding Dong (Dec 20), musica intima performs popular, grumpy and humourous seasonal tunes that span a century.
