Why: The Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra presents its annual festival celebrating the intersection of Canadian cultures with musical traditions from all over the world. This year’s festival theme is Chrysanthemums & Maple Leaves, with a spotlight on the instruments and traditions of Japan. More information at vi-co.org.

Magnetic North Theatre Festival (Jun 1-9)

Why: Following a two-year hiatus, the Magnetic North Theatre Festival returns with nine-days and over a dozen performances. With a focus on local talent the focus, the revived festival will focus on the live performing arts and dance. More information at magneticnorthfestival.ca.
