Why: While Shakespeare continues to get a workout under the tents in Vanier Park, the Bard’s Scottish play gets the musical treatment at The Annex downtown. Verdi’s epic opera features a cast of award-winning singers from around the world, including nine professional singers who regularly perform with Vancouver Opera.  More information at heroicopera.com.

Symphony at Sunset (July 7)

When: June 27-July 6
Why: The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra takes it outside with a free open-air concert in the West End.  Maestro Otto Tausk conducts the orchestra an eclectic concert that runs the gamut of classical favourites to film score hits. More information at vancouversymphony.ca.
