Inspired by his father’s deployment in Afghanistan, Sean Harris Oliver’s The Fighting Season (until Jan 21) is what our reviewer calls devastating. Told through the eyes of three Canadian medical personnel, the trio must come to terms with what they witnessed during the war.

2PuSh International Performing Arts Festival

The 2017 PuSh International Performing Arts Festival (Jan 16-Feb 5) gets underway featuring artists from 11 different countries. The 13th annual festival showcases cutting-edge contemporary performing arts in theatre, dance, music & multimedia around Vancouver.

Maestro Bramwell Tovey and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra teams with legendary pianist, Emanuel Ax (Jan 18) in a program that features two piano concertos. The Grammy Award-winner will play Beethoven’s powerful Emperor Concerto, and Mozart’s brilliant, beautiful Piano Concerto No. 22.
