A week of magic is coming to downtown New Westminster, with the inaugural The Magic Festival taking place March 25-30.

Among the performers is Rob Teszka, who will host Cocktail Magic!, a vintage-style show in a special edition of Vancouver’s magic variety cabaret, The Parlour Magic Show, at New West’s The Metro Hall.

The show features fan-favourite selections from past performances of The Parlour Magic Show, including touring Pick-of-the-Fringe winner Travis Bernhardt, vice-president of the Vancouver Magic Circle Simon Cassegrain, award-winning juggler Yuki Ueda, and the dark and mysterious Aleister Crane. Before the show, professional close-up magicians from the Fraser Valley Magic Company will entertain attendees who arrive when the doors open.

A late addition to this year’s festival, it is one of a handful of shows with tickets still available.

“When Shawn Farquhar asked me to produce the Friday night show for The Magic Festival, I was honoured and excited to bring rarely-seen performers to a new audience in a glamorous venue,” says Teszka in a media release.

Other shows at the festival include 52 & You, an interactive exploration into the world of playing card magic and An Evening of Magic, a salute to the Society of American Magicians with a diverse line-up, each bringing their distinct style to the stage.

The Vancouver Magic Circle will also present the Children’s Magician of the Year competition, in which the audience’s applause and cheers will help decide the winner.
