YouTheatre Movement presents Lee Jay Bamberry’s Handcuffed at the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island from May 1-5.
This original story captures the descent of a young hero dealing with severe bouts of addiction and whose life is about to unravel to the point of no return.
“Handcuffed was originally staged at the BC Drama Festival in 2017, the year overdoses went from one death to four deaths per day,” say organizers. “Here we are in 2024, and the death toll has risen to six overdoses each day.”
In this edition of Before The Curtain Goes Up, David C Jones speaks with playwright Lee Jay Bamberry and actor Coltrane Jones to learn more.
Handcuffed plays at the Waterfront Theatre (1412 Cartwright St, Vancouver) from May 1-5. Visit youtheatresociety.com for tickets and information.
