Gateway Theatre has announced that executive director Camilla Tibbs will step down as the company’s executive director after eight years.
“During her time, Camilla Tibbs has overseen Gateway Theatre’s transformation in adopting a radical new vision in its programming and initiatives,” reads the media release. “This undertaking resulted in cultivating a variety of community-driven initiatives in addition to its traditional performances. With Director of Artistic Programs Barbara Tomasic, she has proudly led Gateway to become a creative hub for collaboration and community-building.”
Tibbs’s final day with the organization will be May 9, to pursue a new role with a Vancouver-based organization.
“Camilla joined Gateway Theatre in 2015 and has led us through great changes, including the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Gateway Theatre board chair Diane Purvey. “Through it all, Camilla has been a champion of Gateway Theatre and its important role in the Richmond community. This is something we are incredibly grateful for, and wish Camilla all the best in her future endeavours.”
Gateway has begun the process of finding an interim executive director.
