As wildfires continue to rage across the interior of British Columbia, the Vancouver TheatreSports League (VTSL) believes a little laughter can help ease the pain.
In a media release, the VTSL announced it will donate net proceeds from ticket sales for its 9:15pm show on Wednesday, July 12 to the Canadian Red Cross’ British Columbia Fires appeal.
“VTSL feels it is an important thing to do,” says executive director Jay Ono in the release. “People across the country have been horrified by this disaster and we all want to help. Two of our company have family who were evacuated from 100 Mile House last night. It is our hope that other arts companies will follow our lead and help support the fund.”
In addition, the company will pass the hat at all 12 performances during the week of July 11 – 16 to raise additional cash. All money raised will also be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.
Tickets for the July 12 show at The Improv Centre on Granville Island are available online.
