20 Questions with Brandi Alexander

1. Your first job.

My very first job was doing background with my mom when I was eight years old. I was in a scene where I was on a hospital bed as the patient being wheeled down a hall, with my mom and the actors around my bed. What’s funny was, I had so much to eat off the lunch truck and craft service, that by the time the scene came around to shoot, I was holding in so much gas that I let out this big fart while they were filming. Needless to say, my mom was super embarrassed.

2. The job you always wanted as a child.

As a child, I was so fascinated with Egypt, the Sphinx, the pyramids and the hieroglyphics. I wanted to be an Egyptologist.

3. Your pet peeve.

My pet peeve is when someone is chewing/eating with their mouth open.

4. Your hero.

It would have to be my little sister. She is a mom of three, and even though she is my younger sister, she is such a strong woman and very independent. I really admire her.

5. Your biggest indulgence.

Oh man, my biggest indulgence. Depending on my mood, it’s between a big plate of spaghetti bolognese, and a bag of kettle chips, Backyard BBQ flavour to be exact.

6. One thing no one knows about you.

Sometimes when I am cooking I pretend I have my own cooking show, where I am talking to a live audience.

7. Three things you would want with you on a deserted island.

Clearly my phone, music, and somehow a cold fridge filled with fresh crisp kale.

8. The one word your best friend would use to describe you.

Bran is … a firecracker.

9. If you were not pursuing a career as an actor, what would you be doing?

Oh, man. I would probably be pursuing a job with holistic nutrition and fitness. Health is very important to me.

10.  Hero or villain?

Definitely a villain.

11. Your life’s motto/mantra.

Live in the now.

12. The song that gets the most play on your iTunes playlist.

That would be Carlos Santana’s “Black Magic Woman”.

13.  The one role you are destined to play, and why.

As cheesy as this may sound, I have always wanted to play a James Bond villain. Ever since i was I little girl, the James Bond villains really intrigued me. The women were beautiful, and smart and always had ulterior motives. It would really be quite fun to tackle a character like that.

14. If you were a cartoon character what cartoon character would you be and why?

If i was a cartoon character, I would probably want to be Penny from the original Inspector Gadget. It was one of my favourite cartoons as a child. Penny, although she appears cute and pretty, is a genius! She’s fearless, very active, and a tomboy. That appeals to me. She’s not the usual stereotypical girl. And on top of that, she has the coolest smart watch, decades before the smart watches today.

15. What will it say on your grave marker?

What I would want on my grave marker would be: “Brandi Alexander: thoughtful, caring and a child a heart.”

16. Who would you most like to have dinner with?

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be with Queen Nefertiti. I am so intrigued by Egyptology, and I think it would be so interesting to be in the presence of her and to watch her mannerisms and elegance and ask her in her time what she lives for.

17. Your idea of happiness.

Being at peace with yourself and living your life without boundaries or being apologetic for who you are.

18. The one thing in your life that makes you most proud.

The one thing that makes me most proud is that I listened to me and I am doing what I want to do. I am following my dreams.

19. If you could go back in time, what would you tell your 20-year old self?

I would tell myself to be proud of who I am, to be patient, and not to fit in to what society says I have to be.

20. To be or not to be?

To be. We are here for a short time in this life. So enjoy it as much as we can – even the smallest things!
